Harpal Singh Sokhi
Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi is a renowned celebrity chef from India, fondly known as the “Energy Chef of India” and the “Dancing Chef of India.” A natural entertainer, he has been a familiar face on Indian television most recently winning hearts as a judge on Colors TV’s Laughter Chefs, a culinary comedy show that became an instant sensation. Earlier, he also participated in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 9, where his energy and signature moves stood out.
Chef Harpal is best known for bringing his desi tadka to the small screen through his iconic cooking show Turban Tadka, which continues to be loved across generations. His signature line: “NAMAK SHAMAK NAMAK SHAMAK DAL DETE HAIN!”, has become a household catchphrase.
With deep roots in North India and a global culinary footprint, Chef Harpal is celebrated for fusing Indian flavours with international techniques. Karigari is a concept especially close to his heart, it reflects his decades of culinary exploration across the world, brought together in a thoughtfully curated menu. His vast experience in Indian cuisine, combined with a personal touch in every dish, forms the core of Karigari’s USP and sets it apart from the rest.
Personal Life
Hailing from North India, which, like the rest of India is rich in culture and cuisine, Chef Harpal is a music lover and is fluent in English and five Indian languages, namely Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Oriya and Telugu. He graduated from the catering school at Bhubaneshwar, a capital of Orissa. He spent his initial years in learning different international cuisines but later realized that his interest lay in unearthing the authentic regional Indian food.
